At Roam Overland, we don't think you should spend the money on a completely custom campervan only to end up with someone else's idea of what a campervan is supposed to look like.

So we design the van around you.

A campervan is already an unconventional way to build a home. We don't see much reason to suddenly become boring once we get to the interior.

If you want something colorful, eclectic, moody, retro, bohemian, funky, or completely different from anything we've built before, we're not going to try to talk you into an all-white interior.

We're going to figure out how to make your idea work.

Prefer Traditional? We Love That Too.

Custom doesn't have to mean wild.

Maybe your dream van has warm wood cabinetry, classic details, traditional hardware, soft neutral colors, and an interior that feels more like a beautiful little cottage than an RV.

Perfect.

Traditional design can be incredible inside a campervan—especially when it's thoughtfully scaled for a small space.

Cabinet profiles, trim details, hardware, countertops, fabrics, wall colors, flooring, and lighting can completely change the personality of a van.

We can make a Sprinter feel like a tiny cabin.

Or a cottage.

Or a warm little home that happens to have wheels.

Clean + Modern? Absolutely.

Maybe you're on the complete opposite end.

Minimal cabinetry.

Clean lines.

Flat-panel doors.

Integrated hardware.

White oak.

Microcement.

Warm neutrals.

Matte finishes.

Simple lighting.

Very little visual clutter.

We're here for that too.

Modern campervan design works beautifully because thoughtful simplicity can make a small interior feel dramatically larger.

But modern doesn't have to mean sterile.

Texture, wood tones, lighting, upholstery, and carefully selected materials can create a space that's incredibly clean while still feeling warm and comfortable.

Somewhere In Between?

That's probably where most people actually live.

Maybe you love modern cabinetry but want vintage hardware.

Maybe you want traditional millwork with an unexpected paint color.

Maybe you're drawn to Scandinavian interiors but also really love Southwestern textiles.

We Don't Want Every Roam Overland Van to Look the Same

We actually think that's the fun part.

When someone walks into one of our vans, we want them to see the person it was built for.

Not a template.

Not whatever campervan aesthetic happens to be trending this year.

Their van.

One client may want soft blush walls, white oak cabinetry and tiny framed cabinet doors.

Another may want dark cabinetry and dramatic finishes.

Another may want something earthy and organic.

Another might walk in wanting colors we've never even considered putting together.

That's custom.

If every van leaving our shop looked identical, we'd be missing one of the best parts of building them.

Custom Design Goes Way Beyond Color

Designing around you isn't just about picking cabinet colors.

The entire campervan should reflect how you're actually going to use it.

Are you traveling alone?

A couple?

Family of five?

Bringing two giant dogs?

Working remotely?

Chasing ski season?

Living in the van full-time?

Taking weekend trips?

Cooking elaborate dinners?

Never cooking anything more complicated than coffee?

Carrying bikes?

Surfboards?

Climbing gear?

Volleyball gear?

All of that matters.

We start with how you live, because the prettiest campervan in the world isn't very useful if the layout doesn't work for you.

Maybe you need an enormous kitchen and don't care about having an indoor shower.

Maybe the shower is non-negotiable.

Maybe you want a permanent bed.

Maybe you want an elevator bed that disappears into the ceiling.

Maybe you need seating for the whole family.

Maybe you want a giant open floor because you're traveling with dogs.

The floorplan should fit your life just as much as the finishes fit your personality.

Then We Make It Beautiful

Once we understand how the van needs to function, we get to make it yours.

That's where we start playing with:

Cabinetry + millwork Door styles, wood species, painted finishes, stains, profiles, trim and all the tiny details that make cabinetry feel custom.

Color Neutral, earthy, dark, bright, pastel, moody, monochromatic—or something we haven't thought of yet.

Countertops From clean and minimal to bold statement surfaces.

Hardware Modern, traditional, vintage-inspired, brass, black, chrome, subtle or intentionally noticeable.

Walls + ceilings Painted panels, wood, upholstery, specialty finishes and other materials that completely change the character of the interior.

Flooring Because the floor is one of the largest uninterrupted surfaces in a van and has a huge impact on the finished look.

Lighting Functional lighting is important. Beautiful lighting is what makes the space come alive at night.

Upholstery + textiles This is where a van can really start feeling like someone's home rather than a vehicle.

And then there are all the little things.

Those are usually our favorite.

Magazine pictures.

A photo of a kitchen you saw in a house.

A hotel bathroom you loved.

A cabinet color you saw at a restaurant.

A weird tile you found online at 2 a.m.

A picture of a campervan you absolutely hate.

Both are helpful.

You don't have to know how any of those ideas translate into a vehicle.

That's our job.

We take the inspiration, figure out what makes sense inside a campervan, and turn it into a cohesive design that can actually survive life on the road.

There Are Some Things We'll Say No To

Custom doesn't mean we'll do absolutely anything.

A campervan is still a vehicle.

Everything we build has to account for weight, movement, vibration, temperature changes, moisture, electrical requirements, plumbing, structural integrity, safety, and the realities of driving down the highway.

Sometimes an idea that's beautiful in a house isn't appropriate inside a moving vehicle.

That's when we'll look for another way to get the same feeling.

The goal isn't simply:

Can we build it?

It's:

Can we build it beautifully, safely, and in a way that's going to hold up?

That's the difference.

Your Van Doesn't Have to Follow the Rules

That's probably our favorite thing about custom campervan design.

There really isn't one correct way to do it.

Your van can be sophisticated.

Minimal.

Traditional.

Rustic.

Modern.

Funky.

Colorful.

Dark and moody.

Bright and airy.

Completely understated.

Or absolutely ridiculous—in the best possible way.

It just needs to feel like you.
